How to Help
There are countless ways you can help us in our quest for paws. You can make a donation (however big or small), join our fundraiser events, or volunteer your time!
Highschool-age young adults and older can volunteer their time helping in the kennels or open up your home and become a Puppy Guardian for our “Home for a Weekend” program.

Did you know?
The average cost of Service Dog after training, veterinary services, food, supplies and other miscellaneous expenses is around $25,000! All donations received are being poured right into these amazing animals.
Volunteer
FMSD is always looking for talented individuals to help around the kennels. These tasks may include: fixing/building fences, painting, deep cleaning and disinfecting play areas, and last (but certainly not least)- PUPPY Cuddlers. Proper socialization begins right from the start!
Please inquire about becoming a Puppy Cuddler. Spots are limited and by appointment only. Biosecurity is most important when dealing with new immune systems.

Home for the Weekend Program
Our puppies and adolescent dogs are busy working hard throughout the week. They will be mastering skills that will lead them to the noble path of service work! Their schedule consists of exercise, playtime, training sessions, and time out in public. However, it’s also super important they have the skills to be an excellent dog inside a home. Learning proper manners, getting used to being handled by another family and socializing with new tings the World has to offer. That’s where our Puppy Guardians come in!
Puppy Guardians must complete an application and a training class to be considered for the Home for the Weekend Program.
Home Handlers
Home Handlers are very important to the success of service dogs! Not only is it excellent socialization to new environments, but it also gives our puppies/dogs a short break from a hard week of training. Home Handlers commit to taking puppies from Friday evening, until Sunday afternoon/evening a couple times a month. Home Handlers might also take puppies/ dogs for week-long vacations when our trainers are unavailable.
