FAQs

Firefly Meadow Service Dogs Inc. does NOT train pet dogs. We breed specifically for desired traits to ensure longevity, health and temperament.

What types of dogs does FMSD provide?

Firefly Meadow Service Dogs Inc. is a breeding and training center from birth to a year old. Our dogs will be exposed to all situations, people, animals and smells. We hope this makes our dogs so versatile that they can go on and graduate from programs that assist Veterans, kids with autism, medical alert or psychiatric service dogs (just to name a few)!

What happens to the dogs that do not make it as service dogs?

Dogs that are not able to task as service dogs may be worked as a facility dog, a therapy dog, or a courthouse dog. These jobs, while equally important, are slightly less grueling and may be easier for the dog. However, if the dog is still unable to perform any of those jobs to the high standards FMSD has, puppies/dogs may be offered up to Puppy Guardians to give them a forever home. If a Puppy Guardian is unable to provide a lifelong home, they will be offered for adoption to the public for a fee.

Where do dogs go after their first year of training with FMSD?

FMSD is partnering with several organizations across the Country to finish our dogs’ training and pairing with a client. Service dogs go through a minimum of two years of training before being placed with their client.
